Description
It is a special, small and “niche” museum, created in 1981 to house the permanent installation of the French artist Christian Boltanski: the remains of the DC9 plane, shot down on June, 27th, 1980 while on its way to the airport of Palermo (the dynamics of the incident have not been clarified yet). Eighty-one were the victims and eighty-one are the lights that turn on and fade at an uninterrupted, short rhythm. Black mirrors reflect the image of those walking along the gallery, while behind each mirror eighty-one loudspeakers whisper the last thoughts of the victims.
