Cavaticcio Park
Details
Via Azzo Gardino
Description
Going along via della Grada you arrive at the Cavaticcio Park, the ancient port of Bologna and the area of the former Manifattura delle Arti (Arts Manufacturing). Designed in 1883, demolished during the war bombings, and renovated again from 1996 to 2003, the Manufacture area is composed of: Manifattura Tabacchi (Tobacco Factory, now Cineteca di Bologna), the Castellaccio, the old paper mill Mulino Tamburi (now Department of philosophy and communication). Going towards Porta Lame, in via Azzo Gardino, you will find the former slaughterhouse. A peculiarity: if you go down from via Azzo Gardino towards the Cavaticcio Park you will find the rings where horses were once tied. Events are organized in the green area of the Cavaticcio Park, especially in summer; the main one is the Biografilm Festival.
To access the Cavaticcio park there is a fairly steep descent, but you can descend without any problem.
