Description
It is a place for archival conservation and restoration, promotion and spreading of cinema and audiovisuals, as well as training, research, and editorial production. One of the main rooms of the Cineteca di Bologna is the cinema Lumière, operating since 1984 and equipped with modern projection systems for films and videos. Their programme is rich and of great value, with restored historical films (shown on the occasion of the Cinema Ritrovato Festival), but also current and latest release films. For years, in summer, the Cineteca has been organizing the Sotto le stelle del cinema festival in the beautiful setting of Piazza Maggiore: a huge screen for a free outdoor show, something you cannot miss! Actually, people come from all over Europe to enjoy it.
