Description

Piazza Verdi is located in the heart of the university area; until not long ago in Piazza Verdi people would meet, talk, study, and listen to each other. Then some municipal decrees changed things a bit. Currently, especially in the summer, the square hosts cultural events, such as shows, concerts and meetings.

The square is accessible; the only recommendation is to pay attention to the shards of glass you might find on the floor.

Perpendicular to Piazza Verdi is via Zamboni, the quintessential university street where you can find all the University Faculties and Departments. It has been a famous place and set of many films, such as Paz on the cartoonist Andrea Pazienza.

A peculiarity: given the concentration of university seats in this single street, there is a habit among students of referring to where they go by mentioning only the street number: “I go to number 38”, for the university classrooms of Arts and Cultural Heritage; “I go to number 36” for those who want to go to the library; “I go to number 32” for those studying Education etc.

In via Zamboni you have to do a bit of zigzagging to use the arcades. A good route is to take the arcade of Via Zamboni on the left (with the two Towers behind you), then descend on the cycle path at the level of the Law faculty and return under the arcade, along the cycle path up to the Municipal Theatre.
